Katie Donnelly is a pediatric emergency medicine physician, an injury prevention researcher and a public health advocate. Her particular interest is understanding and preventing pediatric firearm injury. As the medical director of both Safe Kids DC and the Children's National Hospital-Based Youth Violence Intervention Program (CHYVIP) she interfaces with clinicians, the public and governmental leaders on how to protect children from injury. She is actively engaged in mentoring trainees interested in injury prevention. Her current funding focuses on improving passenger restraint for children with special needs and for the development and management of CHYVIP to break the cycle of violence for assaulted teenagers.
