Research, Education & Innovation Week
Each year, Children’s National Research Institute hosts Research, Education & Innovation Week to showcase the wide array of research and education programs occurring throughout the institution.
REI Week is a week-long celebration which includes over 400 poster presentations, guest lectures, educational workshops and panel discussions. It is a cornerstone event showcasing the exceptional research, education, and innovation efforts at Children's National and across the broader academic and clinical communities. It serves as an inspiring platform to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and highlight groundbreaking work in pediatric healthcare.
REI Week began in 2000 as a Research Day in order to showcase the breadth of translational, clinical, and community research and educational projects performed in our hospital. The inaugural Research Day hosted approximately 100 research projects

From April 13-17, 2026, Children’s National will proudly celebrate 16 years of Research, Education & Innovation Week—our premier academic event recognizing the outstanding scholarly contributions of our faculty, staff, and trainees.

The week's focus is "Empowering the Future in Pediatric Research and Innovation with Equity, Technology and a Global Reach."

2024: 400 abstracts
Under the "Delivering on the Promise" theme, the event also had eight keynote speakers presenting on subjects such as sickle cell disease and genomic discoveries.
