
Stella Ghattas, Esq

Stella Ghattas, Esq, joined Children’s National in 2014 as an attorney in the Office of General Counsel. After nearly eight years in that role, she joined the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research (CCIR) as its director of Operations. For the past 2 years, Stella has also served as acting chief of staff to the chief academic officer and chief research officer. She has provided strategic guidance and operational leadership, working closely with key stakeholders to advance CNRI’s research and academic missions.
Stella has been a pivotal strategic advisor, facilitating collaboration with external consultants and internal stakeholders to help establish a strategic plan for education and research for our organization. She has also led work with key external partners, including Virginia Tech and George Washington University, resulting in a formalized research affiliation with Virginia Tech and routine leadership engagements with GWU on research and academic affairs. Additionally, she has helped facilitate internal and external engagements for nationally recognized symposia, including those with the National Institutes of Health (NIAID), Cell and Gene Therapy, Cancer Grand Challenge, and Cancer Biology in partnership with Georgetown University.
Stella holds a Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University School of Nursing. Her legal, research, academic, and operational expertise will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our research and academic initiatives at Children’s National.
