  • Danielle Dooley, MD, MPhil, focuses on the intersection of education and health with the aim of improving academic and health outcomes for children and advancing health and educational equity. She does this through a combination of advocacy, public service, and research. She has extensive experience working across the health and education sectors. Prior to joining academia, she served for a decade in a federally qualified health center and was the Medical Director of four school-based health centers in DC Public Schools. She serves on the citywide, multi-agency Every Day Counts student attendance task force and as a Mayoral appointee to the Healthy Youth and Schools Commission. The goal of her research is to make school attendance a vital sign in pediatric practice and to develop protocols for pediatric practices to support families with school attendance. She leads community partnerships to facilitate school attendance data-sharing across sectors. She is also a co-author of the AAP Policy Statement, The Impact of Racism on Child and Adolescent Health, and the AAP book, Untangling the Thread of Racism: A Primer for Pediatric Health Professionals.
