Alexandra B Yonts, MD, completed a pediatric residency at the University of California, Davis and a pediatric infectious diseases fellowship in Washington, D.C. as part of the combined Children's National Hospital - US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) CBER track. She received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
Dr. Yonts's clinical expertise and interests focus on vaccine policy and implementation, as well as infection associated chronic conditions (IACCs). She serves as the Director of the Children's National Post COVID Program Clinic, a multidisciplinary clinic focused on evaluation and management of children and adolescents with Post Acute Sequelae of COVID/Long COVID. Dr. Yonts researches the phenotypic presentation and longitudinal outcomes of pediatric Long COVID, as well as potential therapies for this complex disease. Dr. Yonts also co-leads a joint pediatric Lyme Disease natural history study (PELO) with the NIH to help better characterize the long-term outcomes of children who develop Lyme.
Dr. Yonts is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. In her free time, Dr. Yonts enjoys baking, hiking, attending sporting events, ringing in a community handbell choir and going on road trips with her family.
