Biography

Shivaprasad Bhuvanendran, D.Eng., has over two decades of combined experience in medical instrumentation and optical imaging. His interests include application of multiphoton microscopy, super-resolution, and other imaging modalities. His current collaborative efforts are focused on employing super-resolution microscopy to probe protein interactions and their nanoscale organization. Using this, he studies interaction and organization of proteins at the mitochondria during viral infections and urea cycle.

Biography

Daniel Bittel, Ph.D., is a physical therapist and a movement science researcher who is interested in the bio-physiological connections between movement, exercise and skeletal-muscle plasticity in injury and disease. His research focuses on understanding the contribution of cellular membrane trafficking and vesicle-mediated signaling in repair of injury to healthy and dystrophic skeletal muscles.

Biography

Marshall Hogarth, Ph.D., is a muscle physiologist trained in models of neuromuscular disease and experience in conducting genotype-association studies in human cohorts. His broad interest lies in studying muscle function and genetic diseases that affect skeletal muscles. He studies cellular and tissue deficits associated with dysferlinopathy to understand how their interplay leads to the onset and progression of muscle loss in this disease.

Biography

Davi Mázala, Ph.D., has extensive training in the field of exercise physiology and skeletal muscle biology with an interest in the effect of diet on healthy and diseased muscle function. His research focuses on the role of the satellite cell and muscle niche in muscle degeneration and poor regenerative myogenesis in models of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He holds a joint appointment at Towson University where he teaches undergraduate students and performs research in exercise science.

Biography

Prech Uapinyoying, Ph.D., is trained in bench research in muscle biology with expertise in the use of bioinformatics to conduct omics studies. His research focuses on applying data-driven approaches to solve puzzles related to muscle health. He is interested in applying this approach to understand how muscle resident cells coordinate their responses during muscle repair and how it is disrupted in muscular dystrophies.
