Steven Shein, MD FCCM, has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts and numerous book chapters; co-founded BACON (Bronchiolitis: Advancing Care and Outcomes Network), the bronchiolitis research subgroup of PALISI—the largest PICU research collaborative in the world and has been an invited expert for several national and international initiatives related to acute respiratory failure, including the second Pediatric Acute Lung Injury Consensus Conference and the American Academy of Pediatrics’ HIFLO project to reduce unnecessary high-flow nasal cannula use. His contributions have been recognized with election as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, designation as a University Hospitals Distinguished Physician and multiple Presidential Citations from the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
